Crystal - Balmung

A medium-heavy RP free company operating in Radz-at-Han under license by the Eorzean Alliance to support the employment and resettlement of individuals displaced by Garlean conquest.

Founded by retired Dalmascan intelligence officer Primrose Alvane, Southern Cross was created with three main objectives:To provide employment to displaced citizens of former Imperial territories.
To facilitate search and rescue missions and resettlement efforts in former Imperial territories.
To provide support and security to newly formed governments in former Imperial territories.
Headquartered at the Queen's Ring in Radz-at-Han, the free company travels by airship throughout Ilsabard and Othard to execute writs in pursuit of these goals.Southern Cross is currently seeking skilled specialists to bolster its ranks, as well as former Imperial subjects in need of employment. The free company has both a paramilitary arm as well as civilian enterprise and diplomatic positions available to prospective members. While the free company favors Ilsabardian or Othardian refugees for employment, all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. As we are a new company, we’re seeking characters of all kinds that support our mission. Here are a few roles we’re looking to fill imminently:
• Staff for the Ring’s public enterprise (bartenders, servers, etc.)
• Sky sailors of any moral leaning (bonus points if you’ve got a ship)
• Combat specialists
• Diplomats
• Archaeologists and Ilsabardian or Othardian historians
Southern Cross meets on Thursdays from 7:30 to 10:00 PM Central Time for story based RP, and on Mondays from 7:30 to 10:00 PM Central Time for social RP. Every second and fourth Monday, the Queen's Ring is open to the public, and is staffed by players. In addition, asynchronous RP is available via our Discord forum and additional sessions (individual character arcs, socializing, etc.) may be scheduled throughout the week.

Once upon a time, the tavern now known as the Queen's Ring was... something. No one who was there when the doors were last opened is around to tell the tale, and a series of indifferent satraps and a crumbling facade ensured that the building in east Radz-at-Han remained unsold for at least three generations. Until now!
She isn't much to look at yet, but with a fresh coat of paint the Ring is sure to be a must-stop in the Bounty's greatest city.
In addition to the tavern downstairs which overlooks the sprawling Thavnairian countryside and serves potable drinks, the Queen's Ring also serves as a headquarters for Southern Cross.
Southern Cross is currently seeking skilled artisans and builders to contract the restoration and expansion of this historic property. Please contact the guildmistress Primrose Alvane with inquiries!

Primrose Alvane

Guildmistress

Dalmasca

Whisked away from Golmore moments after her birth, Primrose was raised under imperial occupation in the Dalmascan capital of Rabanastre. When she came of age, she traveled all across Dalmasca as a performer, and her renown led her to attract instructors from across the Empire, leading her to obtain high profile roles in theatre, dance, and opera. She leveraged this reputation to become a companion to Imperial officers, siphoning information from the palace to aid various resistance factions. Since Rabanastre's fall, Primrose has resettled in Radz-at-Han, becoming the head of her Hyuran father's house and opening a perfumery before founding Southern Cross.Primrose's duties include the administration of all aspects of Southern Cross's operations, including the Queen's Ring.

Born on the remote northerly island known as the Unpromised, Ymira's birth was cause for much rejoicing, the first female born to her tribe in one hundred years. Named for her queen, she was groomed from birth to succeed the rulership of her clan. Upon the passing of Ymira the Elder, Ymira the Younger succeeded her throne rather than claim her right to found her own tribe, and ascended the sacred Mount Dola to perform her coronary rites. Unfortunately, fate had other plans for the young queen. A well armed party of Garlean deserters descended upon the island, desperate for ceruleum to resist the Telophoroi, and Ymira's tribe was scattered to the four winds while she was on the sacred mount. Since that day, she has wandered the Three Great Continents seeking her lost people.Ymira is the commander of Southern Cross's paramilitary arm, recruiting, training, and leading its forces in battle.

Talha Olobi

Cross Lieutenant

Magna Glacies

An energetic young woman, with a passion for chocobos, pastries, and martial arts. Talha possesses an earnest and idealistic heart, one that she steadfastly listens to. One such example came when she decided to venture forth on her own, leaving behind the comfort and familiarity of her family, to experience the star for herself. She soon found herself at the Pugilists' Guild, where she first began to train her abilities, a step that would eventually lead to her learning the disciplines studied by the lost Fists of Rhalgr.Talha lets her heart guide her actions, often seeking the most moral solution to problems that she encounters. Her gregarious and outgoing nature often helps her make friends easily, though some may find her mindset to be not always practical, if at least admirable. As a lieutenant, Talha is responsible for supporting administration and military leadership.

Rank-and-File

Sveinn

Cross Sergeant

Golmore Jungle

Sveinn did not leave Golmore by choice. When he failed his rites, he was deemed not worth the effort and was left at the border of the Wood to die. Instead of death, he was found by a Garlean patrol that stole him into captivity. He was shuffled between castrums until the lucky day he was liberated by the Bozjan Resistance, and as soon as he could stand he swore revenge, adopting the Bozjan cause and with it the gunblade. Circumstances had it that he did not see the end of the War, rather roaming West to seek work where he was at his best: as a hunter and as a sellsword for jobs of dubious legality. Now he resides in Coerthas, where he lives alongside his twin sister and the son he never knew he had.
A man of few words, many gestures, and a perpetual glare, Sveinn loves pockets, teeth, and rolanberry jam as well as using his skills with a knife to carve small trinkets and jewelry.
He is happy and proud to be a part of Southern Cross’s paramilitary operations.

Manami used her influential position to covertly organize smuggling routes for Doman rebels, continuing her father's legacy as a freedom fighter. Now, with the Empire fallen, she dedicates herself to rebuilding her homeland and aiding victims of war. Though she bears the weight of her tarnished reputation, Manami now holds her head high, certain her deeds will prove her pure intentions.

Staff

When a young Jiro fled imperial-occupied Doma, it mattered little where he ended up so long as he was as far away as possible. He ran west as a refugee until he was deposited at the gates of Ul’dah, where he decided to make a name for himself or die trying. Limited options lead him to the Bloodsands, where he found his coveted success under the gladiatorial moniker ‘Sovereign.’ Jiro clawed tooth and nail up the ladder, and along the way found overwhelming fame, a taste of fortune, and a talent in the subterfuge required to maintain both. The years that followed were a whirlwind of high-stakes drama and betrayal that ended with him alone at the head of one of Ul’dah’s wealthiest estates. And then ‘Sovereign’ died in a fire.
Jiro fled again to Radz-at-Han where he found that, unfortunately, retirement is dreadfully boring. Even now Jiro revels in the glamor of his past life, ever a handsome face who loves good conversation and good wine, even if the sweet words shared leave a bitter aftertaste.
Occasionally works as a bartender at The Queen’s Ring.

Some things to note:
*Southern Cross is a medium-heavy RP free company with a lore-friendly environment. We're always willing to work on keeping things cohesive with our theming, so if you have a great idea with lore related concerns contact an officer and we'll do everything we can to make it work.
*With that being said, blatantly lore breaking characters are not permitted (canon characters, self inserts, dimensional travelers, etc.)
*We ask that characters applying for membership in Southern Cross have a vested interest in the theme and mission of the company, whether they themselves are from Ilsabard or Othard or are contracted by the Alliance or something else entirely. If you're interested in being an antagonist for Southern Cross, please contact Valla directly.
*While we do not forbid pureblood Garlean characters, please be aware that the nature of this company will put them innately at odds with a lot of its members, most of whom have directly suffered Imperial oppression.
*Furthermore, in the interest of preventing an excess of IC conflict, dedicated Imperial loyalists are not allowed membership. Appreciating certain aspects of Garlean society and culture is fine, but a vested interest in restoring Garlean imperial rule is not. Please use your best judgment regarding this rule.
